Katarzyna Szwarc, Director of POLPX's Compliance Office Joins the ESMA Commodity Derivatives Task Force Print +

New financial market regulations, such as EMIR, MiFID II or MAR have a direct and material impact on the trade in commodity derivatives. The Commodity Derivatives Task Force CWG was created in November 2011. Its principal task is to support ESMA throughout the legislative process by devising recommendations for the European Commission, as well as to draft technical standards and prepare additional input for the European institutions.

The Group's activities involve the monitoring and analysis of regulations and developments that affect commodity derivatives markets (e.g. IOSCO reports, CFTC  regulatory proposals or G20 statements). They cover the markets for electricity, oil and gas, metals, agricultural commodities, as well as emission allowances, with a broad range of products including traditional futures and other derivatives falling under the remit of the Task Force.
