5th edition of the “Platinum Megawatts” Competition for the media has been launched

•    The fifth edition of the “Platinum Megawatts” Competition for the media has started on 5 March.  Invariably, its aim is to stimulate public debate on the functioning of energy markets and to honour journalists who have been consistently educating the public on the related issues.
•    The Honorary Patronage over the Competition has been extended by the Ministry of Energy and the President of the Energy Regulatory Office.

•    The Competition partners are: TAURON Polska Energia S.A. (Strategic Partner), GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A., PGNiG Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A., Izba Rozliczeniowa Giełd Towarowych and Polskie Stowarzyszenie Energetyki Wiatrowej.

‘As the Minister of Energy, I once again take honorary patronage over the “Platinum Megawatts” Competition for the media. Explaining the complexities and details of the processes taking place on the energy market in the context of economic, social and political developments is the domain of journalists and their task. Not only have you an informative role but, above all, an educational one. I wish you good luck and great results in the Competition’ said Krzysztof Tchórzewski, Minister of Energy.

For five years now, TGE, together with its Partners, has been presenting the “Platinum Megawatt” award to journalists who provide the public with knowledge about electricity, natural gas and property rights markets. The Competition is the culmination of their year-long work and is also a motivation to further engage in the popularization of difficult energy-related topics.

‘We are proud that the initiative, which we have been pursuing together with our Partners for five years now, has constantly inspired journalists to take up and describe complex and important questions related to energy markets. This shows that the objectives we have set for ourselves have been achieved. The energy sector is a difficult and dynamically developing area, with changing national and European regulations which have a decisive influence on the functioning of the market and its structure. Therefore, it is important not only to provide information, but also ensure its reliability. We wish good luck to all participants of the Competition’ said Piotr Zawistowski, President of the Management Board of TGE.

The competition was initiated by Towarowa Giełda Energii (TGE) in 2014. Since then, the initiative has attracted a distinguished group of partners associated with the energy industry. This edition’s Award Committee will be composed of representatives of institutions that shape the sector’s development directions, i.e.: TAURON Polska Energia, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne S.A., PGNiG Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo S.A., Izba Rozliczeniowa Giełd Towarowych and Polskie Stowarzyszenie Energetyki Wiatrowej. The strategic partner of 5th edition of the Competition is TAURON Polska Energia. Once again, the Honorary Patronage over the initiative has been extended by the Minister of Energy and the President of Energy Regulatory Office.
