Additional functionality in the Certificate of Origin Register

09-03-2022

Towarowa Giełda Energii S.A. (“TGE”) kindly informs that starting from March 4, 2022 in the Certificate of Origin Register (“COR”) offers the possibility of setting the time period of the generation of electricity for which a given certificate of origin has been issued (additional columns in the “Reports” section, sub-section: “Operations details report”).

The implementation of the above functionality stems from the need to adapt the system to statutory requirements in accordance with the Act of 9 December 2021 amending the Excise Duty Act and certain other acts. The scope of the amendments includesArticle 162a which has taken the following wording:
“Art. 162a. The exemption referred to in Article 30(1) shall be applied on the basis of a document confirming the redemption of the certificate of origin for electricity, issued for electricity generated before the date of the change in the excise duty rate, by reducing the excise duty in the settlement periods following the date of the change in the excise duty rate to the amount equal to the product of the quantity of electricity corresponding to the property rights arising from the certificate and the excise duty rate applicable on the date of generation and delivery for consumption of the electricity documented by such certificate.”
