  • On 14 October 2021, an event was held in Warsaw to sign the Sectoral Agreement for the Development of the Hydrogen Economy in Poland.
  • TGE was one of the parties to sign the document.
  • The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries, governmental agencies, business community and scientific institutions.

The Thursday's agreement is a continuation of the process that began on 7 July 2020 with the signing of the Letter of Intent to establish a partnership for the development of a hydrogen economy, and to conclude a sectoral hydrogen agreement. Both Michał Kurtyka, Minister for Climate and Environment, and Ireneusz Zyska, Deputy Minister for Climate and Environment, stressed during the ceremony that the hydrogen agreement is an excellent example of how the mission to pursue the economic development of Poland based on modern technologies and to achieve energy neutrality is turning into practice. The document sets out measures aimed at the development of the hydrogen market from the demand side and creating appropriate regulatory and institutional environment.

TGE was one of the signatories of the Sectoral Agreement for the Development of the Hydrogen Economy in Poland. The Exchange was represented at the event by Piotr Zawistowski, President of the Management Board, and Piotr Listwoń, Vice-President of the Management Board.

“Green hydrogen has already become a symbol of the approaching technology revolution in the energy sector and, more broadly, in the economy. Once the technical or logistical barriers have been overcome, we will come to the stage of building solutions to organise trading and create a market price for this clean fuel. TGE has the knowledge and experience to meet this challenge” emphasised Piotr Zawistowski.

“The implementation and development of clean hydrogen technology in Poland will become a growth stimulus for the entire national economy. The exchange, by joining the agreement, wants to contribute to the process of building competitive advantage in this area” said Piotr Listwoń.

Poland is the first EU country to conclude a sectoral agreement on the development of a hydrogen economy, following the European Commission’s announcement in July 2020 of “A Hydrogen Strategy for a Climate Neutral Europe”.
