TGE sees record-breaking daily electricity volume on the Commodity Forward Instruments Market
• On 8 March 2018, the electricity trading volume on the Commodity Forward Instruments Market totalled 1,376,494 MWh. This was the highest daily volume on this market since 21 January 2016, accounting for 19.5 per cent of the volume achieved in February.
• About 2/3 of the volume was constituted by trade in a yearly contract with base load delivery in 2019 (BASE_Y-19).
Since the beginning of the year the improvement in liquidity on the Commodity Forward Instruments Market with Physical Delivery operated by TGE has been observed, which has led to growing volumes. In January 2018, the CFIM volume grew by 66.8 per cent YoY reaching 8,333,398 MWh. Meanwhile, in February, the volume of trade in electricity totalled 7,072,569 MWh, which represents a growth by 71.4 per cent comparing to February in the previous year.
On 8 March, the CFIM set a daily record reaching 1,376,494 MWh. The above volume was constituted by 199 transactions. This was the highest daily volume on this market since 21 January 2016, accounting for 19.5 per cent of the volume achieved in February.
